Kick-off meeting for the Life-BIOWET project

On July 9, 2026, we held the kick-off meeting for the Life-BIOWET project, in which we are participating as consortium partners. We will be using wood chip bioreactors and constructed wetlands to safely treat and reuse drainage water from hydroponic greenhouses, which can accumulate high concentrations of nitrates and phosphates, impacting groundwater and associated aquatic ecosystems. The project is coordinated by the University of Murcia (UMU) and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), and other participants include the agricultural technology company Novagric, responsible for the design and construction of the bioreactors and wetlands; the Spanish Association for Technical, Technological, and Organizational Transfer in Agriculture and Livestock (Asetaga); the El Mirador Agricultural Demonstration and Transfer Center (CDTA); and the Paloma Fruit and Vegetable Group.
